About

Nicolet "Nico" Barclay helps business owners spend less time wrestling with their websites and more time running their business.

Nico is a Boise-based web consultant who brings both design and development expertise to Shopify and WordPress projects. She partners with founder-led brands to transform their websites into tools that drive business growth.

Nico has been working at the intersection of design and technology since 2006. After studying graphic design and illustration at Boise State University, she spent over a decade building websites and brands across agencies, startups, and in-house teams—first as an interactive designer and art director, then as a product designer managing the full user experience.

Most recently, she spent six years leading digital projects for a global corporation, where she managed development teams and spearheaded a major platform migration from Sitecore to Contentful that now supports business units worldwide. That experience—managing large-scale systems, aligning stakeholders, and solving problems across teams—showed her how powerful it is when design, strategy, and technology actually work together.

She also ran her own web design business from 2011–2015, building WordPress sites for small businesses. Now, she's back to working independently with founder-led brands, bringing nearly 20 years of design and technical problem-solving to help them build websites that aren't just beautiful—they're strategic, scalable, and actually support business growth.

Nico is known for caring as much about the why behind a brand as the how. Whether she's preserving SEO during a complex migration, redesigning product pages for conversion, or building a flexible WordPress site from scratch, she considers the full picture: your business operations, growth plans, and customer experience.

Alongside consulting, Nico maintains a vibrant art and illustration practice. With a background in graphic design and illustration, she brings artistic intuition to every project, from digital branding to character-driven stories. Her artwork spans digital illustration, watercolor, and gouache, often inspired by the mountain towns where she grew up in South Lake Tahoe and Coeur d’Alene.

She is also the author and illustrator of two children’s books, Ana the No-Toed Sloth and Something is Different, which reflect her love of travel, personal growth, and parenthood. Her illustrated products are available through her shop Nicotato and at Idaho Made (108 N. 6th St., Boise, ID 83702).

Whether refining an eCommerce strategy, launching a new Shopify or WordPress site, or collaborating on an illustration project, Nico brings a blend of clarity, creativity, and strategic insight to help brands grow online and connect with their audience.
